Same loved watching him play. So was massive when I was presented my Duke of Edinburgh award by him way back in the day

Superb article. And a huge relief, as when I saw the thread title, I was filled with dread that he must have died!

Wonderful special player. I remember him moving to stand-off at Hilton Park at the last minute after Ken Kelly pulled out and he ran a more than decent Leigh side ragged. He made several breaks and either finished them himself or put someone else in for a walk in.
As a supporter for 50 years plus, he was one of the finest to wear the P&B.

Bongser accidentally found himself brought to this thread (hate tracker pads - give me the mouse, Lennie) and assumed the same as you, Speculator. Even as a 'rival' fan, felt the same relief too.
