I think he left Manly because he wanted to play at 7. Couldn't keep the shirt when Orford came back from injury (not getting on with Hasler was also a factor). Presume Cull had assured him he would play at half-back when he signed. Bet he regretted that later.

Because we didn't have a scrum half? Both Bridge and Grix were pretty permanently injured for the time Monaghan was here in Cullen's time.
