Plus we’re not likely to get a prop elsewhere that’s decent. May as well take a calculated risk with the shortfall in the cap until the end of 23, see how he goes. It’s not as if we have anything to lose by it.
Can’t be any worse than Mikaele in 22, and look how he went after injury fitness woes and finding his mojo.

He’s out of shape at the moment, he’s put a few pounds on. Comparing him to Tom he is significantly heavier. It will take a while to get him physically fit and then he needs match fitness. I hope the lad can make a comeback but it is by no means certain and he will not come cheap.

Well he would come cheap obviously because no-one is going to give him a healthy contract - but definitely not worth the risk for me - he's a pudding.

The last player we dragged out of retirement worked out superbly!

George Burgess has played very few games in the last three years, and has an injury that he's more than likely not got over. A no from me.

Yep 12 games in 3 years.

According to Wiki

Sadly suffering from gambling and mental health issues, together with the hip problem.

If Tony Smith was still in charge we would sign him as a "project".

If he was fit and we brought him in for ONLY the rest of this year, before we get (fingers crossed) Tanginoa for next year, i wouldn't really be too fussed. But the fact he's not played for ages and retired i'd rather we didn't at all.
But also it's 99% likely just a bull crap rumour started out of nowhere anyway so i'm not gonna worry about it at all :-)

The "projects" wasn't specifically a TS thing. Luther Burrell and Greg Inglis were signed under the Price era.

When you've been a cynical old Wire fan for a long time you start to realise that when you sign a player with red flags it is almost always a bad idea. I can only think of two who worked out.

The best was Chris Bridge, who joined us with loads of red flags about his "attitude" but he turned out to be a very consistent player over a long time.

The other red flag player who was good for us although we only had him for a couple of years was Nick Fozzard who had pretty much missed three full seasons out of the four seasons before we signed him with various injuries.

He had that much padding on his forearm, that I was convinced that he'd come straight from his other job training police dogs to catch villains, to Wilderspool stadium on match days.
