The point I was trying to make was that blackpool fans would only come back once there was a change of leadership

I think you could say the same about London right now. I am not comparing DH to Owen Oyston in any way :).... But yes I think a lot of folks will only go back if they see a change of approach to what we see right now

Like a team worth paying £25 to watch rather than this bunch of second raters.

From my personal experiences with Mr Oyston, Mr David Hughes is like a Saint! Just try & negotiate with Owen, one meeting in a country hotel, he asked his financial director for his cheque book, he put my full name on the cheque, signed the cheque, and said okay enter your salary! We stalked on one part of the contract, I gave him a 3 day deadline, he never got back, someone did get back to me 45 minutes after I had signed a new contract, to tell me he had agreed, well too late.

There is no denying the love for our sport, the amount of investment Mr Hughes has put into the club for how many years now? not many Owners have put in so much, in one case a loan for one club from Hong Kong, with an unbelievable interest rate, and they still act as if it their personal investment lol

The sport got rid of one man with Real Money! Always attacking him, now the club he owned are really struggling!

Re: Fev away : Sun Jul 04, 2021 6:30 pm
Ownership and Leadership are two different things

I have no problem with David Hughes, and for me its not so much him, but those around him. Like which ever idiot proposed the move to Plough Lane, and 25GBP ticket prices, when the club was years away from Super League. This is what needs to change. It needs a reset, a focus on the playing squad, a focus on getting fans back and engaged. I don't believe these are David's strengths, which is why we need him to appoint somebody who can reconnect with the fans.

Realistically short term its seeing out the season. Then for 2022 its a focus on getting a playoff ready squad (which would be replacing 75% of what we have now), and being competitive. I would not even be thinking about superleague. In 3-4 years Superleage will change again, we all know this, so the aim has to be stability for this club.

This means not moving to Plough Lane, reducing ticket prices, getting kids back involved (lower kids prices, and bring back mascots), being honest with the fans etc. But right now we all know thats not going to happen, and playing at PL with 300 fans is going to be the final embers of this project.

Well done you.....but you're still an apologist.

I've volunteered and liaised with the rfl on multiple occasions to bale the club out. As for buying the club. There is nothing to buy. No assets and certainly no goodwill. In 2013 when Hughes spat his dummy he basically put th club up for sale, but by then him and Gus had made the club worthless. Now it would be a question of the rfl paying me to take it over.....sort of like when they paid barnet's owner 100k to let us pay rent to him......

set out your plans.

Other than flowers on a roundabout, I believe there's an opus on here from a decade or so ago that would still be as relevant now as it was then....difference being we have 8% of the fans now than we had then and we were a SL club.
Hughes has to accept that he has AGAIN made huge errors in recruitment. But he won't. Because he is a narcissist. That's how he made his money.....by doing it his way.
The club is a worthless husk now. Better to go part time, drop to the skolars level and build it up again and do that at Ealing. Wimbledon is dead in the water. Better to give the club to the bloke who owns trailfinders, give David Hughes a round of applause and a lifetime season ticket and get down to the business or rebuilding what was a fan friendly club.
By the way. I sponsor the youth development at not one but 2 local rugby league clubs here. Other than a few thousand bux in cash, I've bought about 20 pairs of boots this season alone, 250 rugby shirts and hired coaches to get teams to games. I'd not invest a cent in London broncos until the ownership changes.....my point being I may be foolishly generous (according to my wife) but I'm not foolish.
I don't consider myself a fan of either of the teams involved....I'm just a fan of the sport and getting kids playing it.....and as I wasn't flying to Auckland and Aussie this year to follow the warriors, I spent that cash locally.

It's easy to claim people are mouth and no action or keyboard warriors, but I've actually helped the club on more than one occasion and seen how pointless that assistance was as it was never followed up on. I'm aware that RL clubs are not flush with cash and there's often no money available, but the reality is that this club NEVER tried....especially after 2007/8......it wasted money on unqualified administrators, appointed unqualified coaches and all the while ignored the flow of fans leaving never to return.....and as I predicted nearly 20 years ago, the club is heading for wholesale destruction entirely of its own design.

There is no defence for this team. 60 plus points conceded to a PT team is indefensible. Losing to Bradford another PT team with 2 grossly obese props was equally as bad. Those opposition lads will be on building sites at 7am this morning whilst our players get rub downs and go swimming.

There is no defence.

Quite correct WQ there is no defence, that's why Featherstone scored 63 points.

Well done, if you managed to get some response from the dead body, AKA The RFL, once it was now Bulls owner and now Rimmer who are deadwood!

Again respect you've helped the club, many of us have!

No assetts quite correct, but when did we really have assets? except the players, which these days means little. The RFL seem to have found money once again, to get the Odsal pitch into a fit state for The Bulls, what have they ever really done for us?

The RFL have to accept the part London Broncos have played in Youth Development in The South, something like you! Which is close to my heart, but do they? It will be the games lost if this is allowed to disappear.

It will truly be a tragedy if as a Club we fail to exist, the past we can do little about, but we can in The Future! Sorry you feel I'm just a keyboard warrior, when I've been involved in the sport since injury in my early 20's. I will never walk away!
