just on this, the only person i can openly remember playing wth a known broken thumb was shaun edwards in the 1999 challenge cup final against leeds.

and i think we can all recall how that ended up, can't we

has anyone on here ever broken a thumb? absolute agony. Your whole hand is effectively useless.. you cant grab or hold anything... may as well be a broken wrist.

a broken index finger, for example, can be strapped up and taped to the middle finger.. you can catch balls and make tackles like that.. it will still hurt mind.

i couldn't wipe my booty for around 4 weeks when i broke my thumb, let alone play rugby league.
