Superleague clubs will get the same amount as now apparently but less money will filter down to the championship clubs and to the RFL.
Reading what Matthew Shaw is saying Sky have cut games from 80 per season to 66 but there is more freedom to negotiate with other platforms to show games and possibly the potential for every game to be on tv, online etc in some form. The Championship is currently negotiating its own TV deal.
In summary it sounds worrying on the face of it that the price being paid by Sky is down but we have more freedom to now make up that shortfall and even exceed the value of past deals. Let’s hope other companies fancy some of the action.
