And breathe Terry. Can't argue with any of that though. The ref was dire and I thought it were funny when the two most bias commentators Ive heard in a long time even admitted that a forward pass lead to a Bradford try and then that tackle on robinson should have been a penalty. A lot of dumb rugby from us though, firstly getting drawn in to the niggle and then secondly we just look to lack a leader on the field. I know Grix had to go off but we just look to lack direction at times.

and thats the biggest problem for me we dont look like a team we used to have one of the best defences in the league now we are soft right through the middle of our side but if i am honest i do think we have a strong pack so why the soft centre it as got to be down to coaching for me i have seen nothing from our performances under simon grix to think that he can put it right the players have to have a good look at them selves too because defence is down to attitude how long will the directors of the club let this go on it might sound too soon to talk like this and i dont no what other surporters expectations are for this season but mine are pretty high

Brian Noble gave fair coverage of the game did he not?

The boy Noble actually wasn't anything like how he used to be on the Toronto commentaries to be fair.

Hope he returns to the Tetley Stadium at some point so we can hear him talking about the boy Finn and the boy Sykes.

Re: The Bulls : Mon Apr 19, 2021 3:27 pm
We do look something like a team when we stick to the game plan.
Why?
Because it’s what has been practised all week in the run up to the game.
We don’t look like a team when we go away from the game plan.
Why?
Because when someone (and it only takes one) starts doing things off the cuff and making it up as they go along then everyone else is playing off the cuff and making it up as they go along off the back of it.

If you don’t play as a team then you aren’t going to look like a team.

If this happened in training then it would produce the same headless chicken stuff, everything would quickly grind to a halt and the coaching staff and players get into a huddle, talk it through and start again.

Problem is when it happens during the game you can’t just stop and have a chat about it, the game goes on and before you know it in that 10 or 15 minute silly spell the opposition cash in on the drop ball, the loose pass, the silly penalty etc and your punished on the score board before you can get your hands back on the ball even though the coaching staff will be yelling out instructions.

It’s a young team with regards to how long they have been together so they are still gelling and SG will still be learning who he can really trust to do the job and from what I have heard if push comes to shove anyone not up to it over a reasonable period of time won’t be playing.

doesnt simon grix take any responsibility for these performances he signed these players and he coaches them it cant just be all put on the players the book stops with the coach and there cant be the usual slow start this season because i dont think we will catch up if thats the case he needs to get more out of what hes got playing wise and quick

We're out of the cup/cups and have a 1/1 start in the league, the league loss being to a very poor bulls team. Not exactly ripping it up, is it? :?

I think you'll be fine. A few smarter decisions from Fax and you would have come on the right side of the scoreline.

Most teams will have ups and downs throughout the year. 1 from 1 (against Bulls & London) isn't the worst start and certainly better than Widnes who look in a mess.

I think we've proved that there's very little between places 3-9. How a team turns up and performs is going to be crucial in most games. I can't see many games where the likes of us and yourselves can turn up, play badly and come away with two points. Even teams like Whitehaven look they are going to be tough games this year. Which is how it should be and why we watch sport.

That's a fair post and when the emotion has died down you could say we lost by one point in a tight, and very entertaining, derby game. As you say Fax could quite possibly have taken the points with better game management but they didn't and that's two points gone already. What does surprise me is the lack of blame towards Mr Grant, the referee. Despite the large penalty count in Fax's favour early on the big decisions certainly didn't go our way. There were a few but the try by bull's winger on the left in the 2nd half was ridiculous. How far forward does it have to be to get pulled? That was one really poor call from the ref in a game we lost by one point. Don't blame the ref/swings and roundabouts/it'll even itself up over the season, aye I've heard 'em all but it still dosen't change Sundays result. :BLAH: Bring on Toulouse though and Up The Fax! :DRUNK:

no it is not hudd-shay it comes down to expectations for this season for me and i am not just judging simon grix on the 3 games so far this season it is based on how we have performed since he took over from marshall our win ratio is very poor we seem to play well once every 5-6 games i think we should be challenging for the top 4 this season with the squad we have and then give the play offs a real shake i can take losing if we do our selfs justice but i have rarely seen this under grix

Watching the game again the I don't think the ref will be happy with his performance. I do not think for a second that ref's are biased but just like players they can have bad games and this was one of them. He pretty much got every 50/50 wrong, obviously that comes down to the linesman as well especially that forward pass and the crucial ones like the missed 2 on 1 ball steal, the 6 again when our player did not play the ball, the forward pass, and then the offisde on our line that was not offisde, all that added up its going to hurt any team.

We contributed though, getting sucked in to the niggle when there was no need, a total lack of leadership when we were struggling which is a worry from our half backs and more experienced players. Another full length of the field try from a kick off the 2nd in 3 competitive games and down the same side, the total lack of direction on our last 3 or 4 sets and a coach that once again said that another team wanted it more. I think we will put up a fight on Sunday but Im not expecting too much and it would be a big shock if we won and I can't remember the last time we had a shock win.
