New Training Base : Fri Jan 22, 2021 3:43 pm
https://www.warringtonguardian.co.uk/sp ... ng-ground/

Club have invested plenty into the campus over the past few years, including £750k on the barn - I wonder if they will be due any of that back?

Any whispers on new locations? Wonder if further development of Vicky Park would be an option? Issue being its on a Flood plain obviously, but they already have the new stadium, a new 3G pitch going in next to it and plenty of parking / space.

Any other possibilities?

Land off Dallam Lane currently occupied by a disused distribution centre building is one of the options.

They could get the indoor training sorted but it would be a lot of work to get outdoor pitches.

Wouldn't be like Etihad Campus but it would be nice to have the stadium and training facilities near each other.

If they can fit it in, that would be an excellent choice. They are getting an all weather pitch put in ( I seem to remember we have a grant ) so that would add to the all round / all year training available on the site. Then there is the synergy with the community club and access to what would be first class facilities. Plenty of parking, good local access.

We need to ensure that the choice of location isn't also favoured by the local vandals.

The flood defence system of the River Mersey uses Victoria Park as an overflow to the river to prevent flooding to houses, roads etc in the area.

Hence it would not be a good idea to build a Wire indoor training facility there:-

Didn’t stop us building a stadium in another natural flood plane. Wilderspool Stadium.

Penrith Panthers training base is an example of what Warrington needs ,to be the best ,you need to act like the best ,to attract the best players ,coaches etc you need to have the best facilities, Penrith is a prime example.

Prime example, but cost more than £10m to build. I agree we should show some ambition with the nee training facility, but we won’t have anything like that kind of cash available.
