Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

It should do, but inevitably it just results in a slightly larger back running the ball in near the scrum. I can't remember the last time a team put a set piece on from a scrum.
Saints scored off one in the 2019 Grand Final. I think the point in scrums is more the brief rest though than any plays a team might do off them.
What are you on about at all? The two major changes this season both resulted in the ball being play longer, the exact opposite of American Football. I am interested in this six drives and a kick strategy though, being allowed an extra tackle every set could give us a great advantage
I am on about the things in addition to what happens on the field, clubs having names like Warriors, Wolves, Rhinos etc, two referees, timing the players taking a drop out or forming a scrum, increasing the number of substitutes and substiutions like in Union, Football and American Football.
What next, time outs, popcorn sellers and the singing of the national anthem?

Why not, time outs allow for extra ad breaks on tv therefore increasing revenue, popcorn is just a no brainer, maybe they could have pie & bovril sellers too. As for the national anthem, surely all the brexit voting nationalists would love it.

Ignoring the fact the Super League don't have two referees, and have reduced, not increased, the number of substitutions - what on earth has all that got to do with whether we should retain scrums or not?

My view is that they are not required but what is an unknown is the impact on the overall game not having these short breaks.
Purpose of scrums in rugby league was: - Quick restart (We have found a quicker way by removing them) - Advantage to attacking team to have 1 on 1 attack vs defence (Stats show not many tries scored from scrums)
