I think its a brilliant idea........im the first on here to say we are a joke off the field when it comes to marketing and have on many occassions made posts to that effeect.
Not watching Britains got talent i did not know who they were. To firstly get a group / act that is nationally known to come is excellent. What we need to do now is market it properly, not just announce it over the tannoy to the converted at the ground, it needs to be promoted correctly building it up. I dont mean just putting A4 posters in local pubs and cafes and sticking it on the advertising hoarding that is abandoned on a grass verge on Lofthouse Hill still advertising GEORGE SAMPSON either. Everyone in Wakefield should know that the act is coming on that day. Put it in the Wakey Express, rugby league papers get out in the Ridings and precincts, put it in local, regional and national papers and rugby circulations.
The act also need to be seen and heard, when groups have come before you dont know what time they are on you cant see them and cant hear them...not that i want to thinking of the kids !!!!!
I think it is also a fantastic idea to market it at £10. yes the season ticket holders may moan but not all of us can afford to pay a lump some at once and if it means going to the club to get a ticket prior to match day then so be it.
Dont be dismayed that we only sild 15 tickets , so what yes its a very poor turn, but how many people may have gone home and told their kids "oh guess who's appearing at Belle Vue?" and we will get sales like that
If marketed and promoted correctly it will be a success, i just know what the club is usually like...but credit where its due a brilliant idea.
