Truly a great Rugby League forward. I remember his time at Leeds where he literally limped around the paddock on 1 leg. However, he was better on 1 leg than many of our forwards in the 80’s on 2. Adapted his game to be more of a ball player.
How he carried on so long, I’ve no idea but think only 3 men have played more games in RL history, Jim Sullivan, Gus Risman & Neil Fox. Although Fox played second row when he got older, all were backs.
So Grayshon is probably the most durable forward ever and he was a fine one in his pomp.
David Ward told me once that Grayshon was in tears after Leeds lost the Challenge up semi v Hull KR in 1986 because his dream of playing in a cup final at Wembley had gone.
