Genuine question. What is the testimonial for? I thought you only got them for long service to one particular club.

You can get a 3 month testimonial granted by the RFL for good service to the sport or something. Same way how Stanley Gene had one last year (or the year before, whenever it was).

Sorry to be a pain on this one, but you said the testimonial 9s thing was on Tuesday 17th July, but unless my calendar is badly wrong, the 17th July is a Friday.

So anyone know what the real date is?

A few years back, the RFL changed the rules .... With freedom of contract it is a lot rarer for players to stay at one club for 10 years / whole of their career any more.

For those players that fail to meet those criteria, but have played around the 300 game mark, the RFL has the power to award an 'RFL Testimonial' ... Keith Senior had one a couple of years ago, inspite of the fact that he would only qualify for the 10 year mark at one club only at the end of this season. It took in to accout his time with Sheffield, including a cup win, as part of the equation.

300 games, that's the one. I knew there was some sort of level they had to achieve, but couldn't for the life of me remember what it was.
