I really hope it isn't Neil Kelly. Step backwards imo, hell, why not just go and get Dougie Laughton?

Ned was great for us initially and then it went pershaped because the board wouldnt back him. He's also done a decent job with Leigh thus far including beating us at there gaff last year even though we had the better side. proven at this level and also proved that he can win a final.

Also has knowledge of the club which is an advantage.

Il just add my piece and thanks to Steve for the job he did during his time here. He certainly coached the side through one of the most turbulent and dramatic spells of the clubs history. All off the field, mind !

His face certainly never fit with some fans but im appreciative of some of the work he did here especially under trying times with various different owners and the re-incarnation of the club.

The 2007 season upto the playoffs and including the NRC win was probably the highlight of his time and still the best rugby weve played for a long while.

You cant hepl but feel that the break will do both parties good and heres hoping he gets himself sorted sooner rather than later.

Ned should be left well alone. Let him do what he's trying to at Leigh instead of letting the nostalgia flow !

I dont think it was entirely down to the board not backing him. He got the shove because of mistakes he made with personnel and the performances suffering badly.

Ive no doubt he has reflected on these but it's a no-no for me with bringing him back for another tenure.

Agree with that... it was the whole business of the 2 camps divide in the dressing room. I still remember hearing about him ordering all the players to a 21's game then speaking with each member individually in his car to try and smooth things over.

2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!

Well lets start putting the pieces together and get this rumour mill into 1st gear..

Neil Kelly spotted at the HS on Friday night..
Therefore was he sounded out, invited down to have a look at the facilities / playing staff and talk through possible terms..

A couple of days later and after just one competitive game this season McCormack finds himself out of a job... surely eyes are now on the Leigh board waiting for a disturbing press release for them..

Was he sat with O'Connor? Maybe he was just watching for information purposes in his role as an opposition coach. Who knows?
