Sheffield Eagles Touch rugby competition : Fri Jun 11, 2010 9:15 am
YOU can keep fit, enjoy a game of rugby but avoid the bumps and bruises in a new competition being launched by Sheffield Eagles.
Touch rugby league is coming the city and the Eagles are looking individual players and teams to join in. There’s a chance to try out the non-contact version of the game tonight (17 June) at Hillsborough Arena, Middlewood Road from 6.30pm. The full competition proper kicks-off on Thursday 1 July and will run for five weeks based at Hillsborough. It will involve teams of six players that can be made up of men, women and children. If you can’t get a team of six together don’t worry the organisers will welcome individual players and will fix them up with a team. Katie Butler, from the Eagles community coach team, said: “Touch is a great game for all ages – men and women. It’s chance to the get involved in a competition, enjoy some fun and help keep fit. “Families and friends can make up a team and if you can’t get six for a team just come along, I’m sure there will be lots of people there wanting to form teams. “We’re having a demonstration session at Hillsborough Area on Thursday 17 June and it’s a great chance for people to see what touch is about.” For further information about the tag rugby competition contact the Eagles community team on 0114 2610326 or email either katie.butler@sheffieldeagles.com or andy.russell@sheffieldeagles.com |
