It saying in the star tonight that the rfl consulted all the clubs before announcng the scheme.

A lot of people must have been sniffing thinners then, I can't see one good thing about it, apart from shafting the smaller clubs.

They might have consulted the clubs but that doesn't mean they listened to a word the clubs said, you know what the RFL are like!!

it is a disgrace, for me the cup has lost some of the magic it had, it is great to be able to test yourselves against the bigger teams and must be a great experience for the players but the way the rfl has done this the club dont get much from it, apart from the experience. Lets jus hope we dont get too many injuries.

Like someone has said for the smaller teams the cc can be a lifeline and i think this takes away some of excitement.

I can understand that you are annoyed when your club will lose some of the income it could have made from this tie but the initiative also includes a compensation figure for the Eagles so you aren't being completely ripped off. Next year you could get a game against minnows and be up on the deal.

As far as your point about the magic of the cup and the excitement disappearing I think if you spoke to players and fans of Siddal and asked them about it they would disagree. One club making less money out of one tie than they would have a few years back should not diminish the excitement and passion within the fans and players for their shot at toppling the big boys. If at the end of the game on saturday Sheffield had come as close to beating Wigan as they did to beating Hull KR last year (or had managed to do the unthinkable from a Wigan point of view and win) are you honestly saying you would be decrying the end of the magic of the cup.

Not completely, no, but i do think it takes some of the shine off. maybe it is different being a smaller club, the excitement is still there, with the butterflys in the tummy but its not as an appealing a prospect as it was before it was announced we wouldnt be getting the gate money from the away fans. It is great we are playing as big a team as wigan are but not to have the financial gains that all the wigan fans would bring in is a bit of a blow.

also worth noting, if you head over to the wigan board to a thread with a similar title to this, theres a few people with spare tickets.

]Oh i agree, but in the past we have always been able to say.. Oh well, if we get beaten at least we get a payday from it! Now, we dont have that as a "consolation". I do agree, it will all be about the rugby, that is what matters at the end of the day, that the players put in a reasonable performance and try and raise their game as you would hope they would due to the opposition and the history between the clubs.

I agree it's a joke. Should only happen if you're drawn at home imo.
