Absolutely brilliant weekend despite the flight delay (I'd just said to Neil "at least I won't have to spend 8 hours in the airport like I did going to Perpignan", when the announcement was made - that'll teach me!) Interesting pricing policy in the taxis over there. 6 euros from our hotel to Chez Felix, about a 10 minute walk for me - and the same from Chez Felix to Stade Domec, probably two and a half times further! Nice touch by the landlord of Chez Felix to provide us all with a pint (or was it a litre) of Grimbergen before Saturday's game. Very nice with a massive lemon wedge. Honourable mentions to the landlady of the Celt for tuning into the Featherstone match on Sunday afternoon. Oh yes, and there was the small matter of the Eagles game. I thought it was a solid performance from our boys, given there were some changes to the team and some younger lads in there. It was always going to be a game of unknown quantaties and we handled it well I thought.
Then on Sunday, a trip to the old City was well worth it, to add a bit of culture to procedings. I could've spent all day and a lot of money in there. So, to sum up, the highlights; Chez Felix and the Celt for their hospitality and also the Carcassonne supporters and ground staff for the same, and Le Cite for the culture. Lowlights ; the 8 hour delay coming home and my dicky tummy on Saturday which came too close for comfort to stopping me going to ther natch. Maybe the large slice of Quiche Lorraine after 6 pints of Kilkenny the night before wasn't such a good idea!!
