Am I the first to return alive?
Game was a bit of a damp squib, to say they were the French champs they were terrible really. We never got out of first gear and I reckon if we'd played to our potential we'd have won by at least 70. Apparently they had 3 aussies missing but we had a couple of youngsters making their debut so i'm not buying that argument.
Speaking of the young lads - the number 13 (Lee Sanders?) played really well for the first 30 then got a bad whack to the eye and had to go off. He came back on with about 10 to go looking like a pirate and got sin binned! Definitely one to watch for the future though. Another lad (Nathan Walmsley?!) only got about 10 minutes and all I could focus on was his peroxide white hair.
After the game I got to see the players close up at a function thing - Scott Turner looks mean, wouldn't want to bump into him in a well lit alley, never mind a dark one! Slapped Misi on the shoulder and nearly broke my hand. Simon Brown believes he's the best dancer in Leeds.
More grapevines need to be planted in France - apparently stock levels of the alcoholic grape juice they sell are running low after this weekend.
The town of Carcassonne itself is a bit sleepy - the old town/fortifications are stunning though. Got some brilliant shots which I can whack on here if people want. The town also has one taxi.
Hello and thank you to Sanjunien for all the empheria he handed me, never spotted you after the game so I never got a chance to 'buy' you a beer!
A slightly quiet journey home - only 15 passengers on the plane! Fair play to Ryanair for actually running the thing and not just cancelling it like Easyjet do.
A great trip - bring on the next one (my liver doesn't share the same sentiments)
