Just for the record, I am not aware that I started this thread but there again I'm not aware of much at all these days.

Don't worry about it mate, just a smooth bit of modding, I merged your post from the other thread into here.

Re: Official Match Thread - Keighley at Home : Fri Jul 20, 2012 10:11 pm
That second half was perhaps the worst I've ever had the misfortune of watching.

I can see why Keighley don't concede many, they're very strong defensively but their style of rugby is so dour, glad I don't have to watch that every week. Trying to slow it down at every play the ball and then trying to start a fight every two minutes as well, that number 17 was a lunatic. I've no idea why they don't try and play a more attractive, expansive brand because they've got the players to do it. Although quite a few of them appeared to be nothing more than past it SL journeymen tonight.

Thought we nullified their threat very well, Obst was never in the game and their outside backs didn't get much of a sniff either. I think Tubbs will be disappointed with the try we did concede as it was relatively soft, but prior to it we went about 2 hours without conceding (including the second half at Batley) which is a monumental effort considering how freely we were leaking points earlier in the season.

MoM for me was Scott Turner, couple of huge shots and a great tackle at the end of the first half, also honourable mentions to Vinny Finigan and Q, as well as all the forward pack.

Have to agree. Most entertaining part of the 2nd half was my 5 year old granddaughter, attending her 1st ever game, tripping up on the steps on the way to the toilet. The tears soon dried up when people started fussing over her. Her mum used to be like that too :)

Well it was a win that we really had to grind out. We set off very well only to be frustrated by a side that didn't look like thay wanted to go for a win. I agree with ESO that they have a good defence but Keighley's creativity was zero. For opponents of the bonus point this game was fuel to their cause.

Anyway the win was ours so I am happy enough.

Vinny was my MOTM

Sheffield Eagles - Back to Back National Champions 2012 and 2013 !!

Re: Official Match Thread - Keighley at Home : Sat Jul 21, 2012 8:32 am

Just for the record, penalties went their way in the second half (6-3 or summat - can't remember off hand). Impressions slightly at odds with the facts there.

I enjoyed the game and I don't have a big problem with Keighley's "robust" style of play - a bit of biff will win you games from time to time. But it won't win you silverware.
