This is not an entirely tongue in cheek posting but I was wondering why we don't consider playing our home games at Abbeydale Park until the new ground is built (which may still be some way off). At the weekend over 3000 people watched Rotherham Titans lose their semi-final against Bristol. So surely it should be able to accommodate crowds of half that size for Sheffield Eagle matches and it is in Sheffield. For me it is a long trek to and from Doncaster every couple of weeks whereas I could walk down to Abbeydale, although, tbh walking back up to home again may be harder

I doubt if the RFL would have it. Certainly not for the Bradford game.

I agree about the trek to Doncaster how about Bramall Lane if you believe the offical eagles website Sheff Utd invited us to play our cup game against hull not us asking them I steward most Sheff Utd games and the pitch has always been in excellent condition

Didn't know that about being invited to play at Bramall Lane. Would suit me and I suspect lots of others if we could play there permanently and invest any money we are putting aside for the new stadium, which I believe is as far off as ever, in the team.

We are not going to build up a fan base by forever being a peripatetic club playing outside the city.

Grey Beard Why do you believe that the new stadium is as far off as ever ? It was progressing well in march with several buildings already built when i passed it on the tram to be fair i have not passed it since but i have heard no news that it has been cancelled have you good any latest news ?

I was told a at the Halifax game that there were difficulties with the funding and that progress had slowed right down, which isn't encouraging news.
