Same age as me and what a job hes doing,Beat Rhinos away tonight,His highlight watching Eagles beat Wigan,surely Mark Aston being Lance todd winner,We could borrow some players Worth a try,surely he would be in awe of a conversation with his hero and would do owt for the Eagles. Rob Powell Head Coach & Reserves Head Coach Rob grew up as a fan of Sheffield Eagles in traditionally non-Rugby League playing South Yorkshire. Rob's highlight in this period without doubt was the trip to Wembley in 1998 to see the Eagles famously overcome Wigan in the Challenge Cup final. After playing Rugby Union to County standard whilst at school, Rob first played Rugby League in 1998, whilst at Newcastle University. After graduating he continued to coach the University first team; achieving success by reaching the second round of the Challenge Cup in 2001, reaching the BUSA Cup final and being promoted to the Student National League in 2002.
In March 2004 Rob joined South London Storm, becoming a community sports coach and ultimately Head Coach of the Storm. Rob's period as Coach at the Storm coincided with a successful period on the pitch at South London, including winning the National Conference championship in 2006. With experience assisting in the development of London Youth rugby at various age groups, Rob became Head Coach of Harlequin RL's Foundation (U'16) Academy side in 2006.
In January 2007 Rob was asked to join Brian McDermott's first grade coaching set up as an assistant coach. Away from rugby Rob enjoys all sports and travelling.
