Rediscovered Ostrich article : Mon Aug 22, 2011 7:34 pm
Just rediscovered this. Seems the editor knows more than he gets credit for.The end of another season approaches and we still have not discovered our fate. We trust the Coach will give us the league position we craved in our pre season discussions. We have stayed loyal to him and we expect the same in return.
Some ill advised Ostriches were comparing your club with our near neighbours and discussing finances. They do well on limited resources but run their club as a sports club where success on the field is paramount. We, on the other hand are a business and must make a profit large enough to pay dividends to our shareholders. We are not getting any younger and the pension pot needs constantly topping up. We do, indeed, have more income streams than most but with these comes extra staff. Many of these are full time and although we try to keep their wages to the minimum, it takes a large slice of the cake. Two seasons ago we had a financially successful season which unfortunately led to us being promoted and our fans, who lack our business acumen and got used to watching a winning side have deserted us. This year we said enough is enough and charged our coach with returning us to that lower division. We can still achieve that aim.
When we achieve our ambition we will have exiting news regarding our food outlets for next year. What gastronomic delights have we in store for you. More on this later.
And finally, Our discussions regarding the in equalities in the challenge cup are continuing with the RFL and a decision is due within the next few months. More on this when we meet our objectives.
