thats a huge relief think hauraki will probably stay as well now
Mellars confirmed on Twitter that Hauraki is staying, and says the team will be even stronger next season.
Jarrod Sammut has also confirmed he is "still a Crusader" on his own Twitter page, after mentioning that it was negotiation time or something similar last week.
What's to be happy about? Reason you was brought into rugby league was to develop the game in Wales, re-signing Aussies and kolpack players is proving your wasting everyones time, despite what excuse you make you are playing with a team full of overseas and because there grandad once spoke to a welsh man does not mean they qualify to be welsh, in your 1st super league season you played the tigers when you got found out for foul work permits and there was a nice blend of welsh talent now all wasted!! If they want a welsh team bring in south Wales scorpions who are actually using welsh talent! Yes I am ranting but your time in super league is pointless because we could all make top 8 with tonnes of Aussies and problem is aslong as you keep them they will qualify to play, how unjust is that? You should be playing born and bred welsh and super league clubs should be playing born and bred English or even a mixture with both, It's no good for our youngsters and current players when a second Aussie takes his place, no wonder rugby league is a joke and at the minute so are you as a club, worst thing is you haven't actually got a club name with a welsh town in it, It's wake wildcats, cas tigers and Leeds rhinos and hello it's the crusaders! JOKE!!

At the end of the day for you to come back with a comment like that proves I am right. You have no argument to show anything different and worst of all you are indeed happy to except that your team has no welsh! Sir, are you a proud Welshman? Because if you are then you should be appalled with the club. Look at the Catalans did exactly same as you and found success in Oz players. They now had to produce a background on French players and look how poor there season was, it's back to the drawing board and a waste of 3 years

Ok, if you actually want a case for what Crusaders have done for Welsh Rugby League, then you should probably have a look at the Welsh international side that won the European Cup last year.
Elliot Kear, Lee Williams, Ashley Bateman, Lloyd White, Gil Dudson, Geraint Davies and Ben Flower, who all played in the final, were brought through by the Crusaders. Lewis Mills was also brought through by the Crusaders, and featured in the other two games in that tournament.
We have more than any other club in the full squad this year, with eight: Flower, Kear, Gareth Thomas, Dudson, Jamie Murphy, Jordan James, Williams & White (only JJ is not Welsh-born). We also have five players in the Wales U23's squad this season: Chris Davies, Dafydd Carter, Jack Pring, Lewis Mills & Rhodri Lloyd.
Also, worth noting that four of the five Scorpions in the squad had been involved in the Crusaders set up previously, with Bateman, Davies and James all turning out in Super League last year, and Roets playing a couple of reserve games.

Right ok, i can see your point but the posatives far outweigh the negatives. Last year we had a team mostly built of welshmen, What happened? we only won 3 games and nearly went bankrupt. In order to survive radical change was needed. With this team of experienced imports the young welsh lads can learn behind before eventually getting regular team places. With the sucess this year the club has developed a hardcore fanbase of 3,000 which has increased revenue and will no doubt grow next year. With this increased revenue the club can spend more n player development and a new crop of welsh talent will receive the treatment of a first class youth development, HOWEVER this will only be achieved if the team is successful and gets the funds to improve the youth set up.
Crufan 94 I agree with you on points that's fair enough but to the gentleman posting beforehand; You name all these players but Lewis Mills has been released so you could retain wages for foreign player, and yes the scorpions players have been in the crusaders set up but couldn't get in due to Aussies again! Also other than Ben Flower who really has actually played alot this season? Elliot Kear this year started and you replaced him with a 30 odd year old pole/Aussie. JJ was sent out on loan to Widnes due to 2 front row Aussies, am I not correct? You have to see my point sir, squads don't prove things appearances and statistics do. Oh and for the Welsh rugby set up it is benefitting but it should be having alot more coming out of the crusaders who actually play 1st team. Regards
