Hey Janner did you read Barrold's post where he says that he really isn't anti-Welsh and really could think of nothing better than going to a nice ground to see a successful Welsh team?

I laughed so much I peed a can of Fosters!

I don't need any invitation to have a dig at the RFL and Crusaders, but not just for the sake of it!!

Cas Salford and Saints all have ancient grounds bordering on the dilapidated. Wakey's is held together with more than a lick of goodwill!!!

Newport wouldn't have to be much to compare equally!!
Thing is, I much prefer watching my rugby at Salfors, Saints Wakey (just can't be +'ve about cas) than I do at say, Fartown or Don Valley or Wigan.
Of all the newer grounds the Halton and keepmoat stadia are my favs for RL!

Have a dig by all means - fill yer boots, but apply some balance. Do it with some parity with the rest of RL clubs when having a go.

There are much more worthy debates, pertinent to the future of the club and the game that the state of the Gary Glitters at Newport!!

no you sad little weirdo, it means that its a old ground in need of rebuilding but an enjoyable place to watch rugby none the less.

What part of Rodney Parade would you say was 'enjoyable'??

Apart from the exits?

The bar /club house thing was reasonable I thought.

But that was outside the 'stadium' and from looking at the signs there were no passouts allowed.

The 'Hospitality boxes' resembled a bombed out block of flats in Grozny.

The toilets were dirty portakabins.

The 'beer' came from the depths of a blokes backpack that looked like he was spraying weeds with Roundup instead of selling beer.

The whole place was very poor I thought and not the best way to get fans interested in supporting Celtic Crusaders

If the crusaders had to move anywhere I would have suggested going the other way up the M4 to llanelli and groundsharing with the Scarlets RL team.

Now there is a decent ground

The fans tonight showed that they can rise above abuse and derision. Firstly over 5,500 fans there, the Beeb were so disappointed, they hoped the crowd would be minimal. The supporters cheered and chanted non stop, and the boys on the pirtch gave everything no dropping of heads. At the end the crowd stood and cheered both sides non stop. What does a score matter when you get such an atmosphere. The Leeds players got a shock running on to the pitch to home supporters cheering, but it was for the exiled 6 who have given great service to the club. Celtic came of age tonight, and I cannot remember such support for a team who are supposed to be a 'disgrace'.

That all sounds really encouraging and I'm so glad that there was a good crowd and a good atmosphere even if the final scoreline was a foregone conclusion ... on this occasion! Who knows what good things will happen next season! Don't let the detractors and wind up merchants get to you. Lots of us are keeping everything crossed that things just get better for the Crusaders.

PS: You do realise, of course, that your emergency team of players managed to hold the Rhinos to a lower score than Castleford did the week before. From little acorns ...

ah the old wink im not a strange and lonely man wasting away winding people up on the internet, just joshing trick. Good one.

The ground was easy to get to, sold me a decent pint of worthy for £2.50 (i bought mine from a bar, ive know idea what the hell you were doing), gave me a good view of the rugby and was easy enough to get out of. ten minute walk back to the train station, ten min journey to cardiff. Ramshackle but compact, with friendly helpful stewards. Who gives a toss about the hospitality boxes? They seemed full enougth to me and everyone else seemed happy enough it seems whether they took to the game or not. You need a new obsession mate. Try warhammer or something, im sure you would fit right in.
