And what did Sharp do with a team funded by Davy, after a few years of consolidation and without the threat of relegation? Finish 10th.

No thats why theres no-one coming through the system now is there?
I must have imagined those young lads coming through the Hudds system and playing for the 1st team this year

You obviously know FA about RL if you think Jon Sharp is a good head coach

True, nobody has to rewrite history to highlight Sharp's weaknesses, they're plain for all to see.

Feck me, Christ I could take average players, get them fit and tell them to do 5 drives and kick

Exactly, which is what makes him a rubbish head coach along with the fact he doesnt have the personality or the mindset for being a head coach.

Assistant yes, head coach no.
and obviously some SL clubs have seen those same failings since he was sidelined at Hull and cant even get a better job than assistant at the SL's bottom club

You keep advertising your stupidity. In National 1 , as it was, Smith had the most expensive team by a mile. In SL under Sharp the Giants were not full salary cap unlike 7/8 clubs. This is basic stuff that you do not even know

Your stupidity re the academy is even greater. The guys you refer to signed years after Smith had gone! You are so desperate to blow smoke up Smith's a**e that players who were only 13 when Smith left the club are all down to Smith. Please tell me you are joking. No one is that thick :D

Sharp got results with a low spend team. Live with it sonny.

Try not to write about the Giants because you are utterly clueless and make yourself look ignorant.

The good point about Sharp is he managed to attract pretty good players to huddersfield the problem is he has no man management skills and ends up falling out with them and then getting rid of them like st hilaire, drew, Gene, evans, nero etc.

One point though marsdengiant Leroy was signed whilst Smith was coach :P

But Smith played no part in the signing of 'scholarship kids' as I am sure you know.

Its just funny that some plonker thinks Smith had something to do with bruno, Josh, Alex Brown, Lunt, Patrick & Elliott Hodgson being successful

Well said Bigrob, thank god we got shut of him before he completely wrecked us, he was running out of players to fall out with. I can't say what I know otherwise I will get banned.

Fact is we finished 10th and league tables don't lie.

Davy is one of the nicest, most patient people you could meet and he sacked him, Hull sacked him and Celtic decide to take a punt, after this he has very few places left to go. Odd how he was so rated and no other team came in for him?

For god sake keep him as second in command, his arrogance and personailty does not and will never suit another head coach job.

You too are obviously clueless  The BEST we ever achieved under Smith was 10th Smith also finished 12th from 12. You're right, the league table 'don't' lie

Yep, Sharp had another 4 years after Smith left to consolidate and improve the squad and he didnt, or at least not to the extent acceptable for a club of Huddersfields potential.

Im not here simply to slag off Jon Sharp. As I've already said I think he'll be a great assistant coach but I think he's one of those coaches who just isn't cut out to be a head coach.
I think teaming him up with a strong head coach like Noble and another strong "assistant" in Harris is a great move for Celtic.

Glad you have stopped pretending that Smith is responsible for the young players breaking through now at the Giants. How dopey was that?

Also it is a shame you cannot remember the 5th place and CC Final Sharp delivered. Also that his lowest season finish with the Giants was better than smith's best.

Sharp can do a job with a low club. He can't deliver at the top end. I can make this case without resorting to silly stories about Tony Smith

You keep making the mistake that im on about the players that are brought to the club. Im not. So the salary cap is irrelevant. Im on about the 2 coaches reletative skill at coaching players. 1 is obvious, the other is now an assistant at the league's basement club.

Marsdengiant wrote:

And who put the systems into place? It would be like saying that because Ryan Hall has come through at Leeds this year that Tony Smith had nothing to do with it. Of course he did. He put the systems into place at Leeds that allowed for the likes of Hall to show his potential.

I'm not desperate to praise Smith, he made mistakes at Leeds that cost us a Challenge Cup and has made many mistakes with the England team. Nor am I desperate to critisice Sharp. Im putting forward a widely held view that Smith is and was a better coach than Sharp. I dont think thats unreasonable considering Smith, got Hudds promoted, won the league, 2 GF's and a WCC with Leeds, a Challenge Cup with Warrington and is currently the England head coach.
Sharp, got sacked, went to Hull FC who finished even lower than his last attempt with Hudds, got sacked and has been demoted to assistant at SL's bottom club.

Marsdengiant wrote:

Yeah and Smith got much better results with a low spend and even lower reputation team.

You rate Smith. I think he is a decent coach. Stop making up lies about what he did at the Giants. You just make yourself look stupid

You know next to nothing about Smith at the Giants. He did not touch the scholarship / academy. He hardly went to a game in 3 years. He was not interested one bit in the Giants scouting systems for players. Live with it.

Of our up coming youngsters Griffin came through wakey / Lunt (Cas/Workington) / Patrick (Bradford)...don't tell me Tony Smith created all their development systems  You really are clueless. Or is it all down to good old Tony?

Smith is a better coach than Sharp. I do not need to lie about what Smith and Sharp achieved at the Giants to make that case.

Why not run along and discover a few facts about Smith and development at the Giants rather than making stuff up.
