Anybody understands what happened in the last minutes with the clock showing 00:00 and the hooter taking 4 minutes to be heard?

That is the main reason of the "comeback" of the Quins, with the Cats putting the ball in touch while thinking it was over, just for the Quins to take the ball and score, reaching 24-28

Apparently Walters ran to the assistant ref to tell him to blow the hooter. Is there anything dodgy here?

That clock was not the game clock. The clock on the scoreboard carried on rolling when the ref called time off, so was only a guide. Maybe, if clubs adopt such a clock, they should take it off when it gets to three or five minutes from the end of each half to avoid confusion. Huddersfield do.

OK, but the additional time was very long (even relative to the first half) and the Catalans players thought at one point it was over (kicking the ball in touch). There was clearly confusion out there. Even Walters apparently intervened.

In which case there's a lesson there in playing to the whistle and to disregard any external factor.
