Normy were far better, poor conditions thats all.

Called off about an hour before kick off! Very annoying. Alot of food was wasted today and 20 of our lads had their time wasted.

Thats a bit tough on all concerned.

By called off i mean King Cross didn't show up for whatever reason. Just wish they'd have told us earlier as alot of plans were in place. Don't know the full story as to why they could't get a team though?

We had 12 or 13 lads lined up to play but on Sunday morning only 8 turned up. None of the missing lads would answer thrir phones and ultimately we had no choice but to call the game off.



Very frustrating and annoying for the lads (and parents) who did turn up. Some are talking of quitting the 18s and playing open age. Having a meeting on Wednesday to see if we are going to carry on.

Thats a shame Caliban. Also feel sorry for those from your team who turned up, happy to play with no subs only to be let down by their "team mates".

My lad is in his 11th season at King Cross Park and this is the first time we have not fulfilled a fixture. If we could have mustered 10 or 11 lads I'm sure they would have given it a go.

Looking at fixtures your due to play fryston this weekend. They've been struggling for players too so it could and up 12 v 12 or sumet

. Maybe a good chance for your players to score some points and get their confidence up again.

Had a joint meeting with the U17s last night. Both teams are short on numbers and it was proposed that the two teams merge to form one strong squad at U18. Unfortunately the 17s decided to continue on their own and it was with great reluctance that the 10/11 U18s lads left decided they had no option but to fold.



Sad day for the club especially when in a few weeks time the 17s find themselves equally short of numbers and fold themselves.

Not Good. Very suprised about not merging. Id have thought the powers that be would have made sure this happened. Lets hope those players who are now without a club can find a new club too!

Looks like a straight fight between these two for the league.

Lead for most of the match even after having a player sent off after 15 minutes. Not a bad performance in difficult conditions

You get what you deserve on a rugby field and Cross got exactly what they deserved from this game.

Won the last six league matches and a good win against Oulton at the weekend.

I believe they have had game or two of those given to them 18-0 for whatever reason but as you say a good team. One of the smallest teams in the forwards but make up for it with big centres and a lanky fullback. Conditions certainly wern't the best on Sunday and they handled them better than us. Probably a horrible game to watch but they were understandably happy with the result!

Have Oulton got some new players or merged with there older 18's because they were extremley poor when we played them Clayton 68-0 Oulton, last season under 17's.

They've had one game given 18-0 v Fryston cos they couldnt raise a team and the rest they have won.. Good team 1 to 17..

Yep, I was from the 18's Last year and we joined with Last years 17's. There were about 10 of us older players left so we've still got a strong squad. The 17's from last year have come on so much under a new coach and playing along side some of the older players!

Sorry about that I thought it was a few more. They seem to have slipped up the table under the radar and as you say a good, clean team!

Yeah was going to say they were abit poor last year, but good to hear signs of improvment for the team.

We (Clayton) played Elland on sunday in the west riding semi final cup. Unfortunatly we lost 17-6, score dosen't really tell the game, only 4-0 to them at half time and score a few late on due to our lack of fitness really. Good effort from the boys seen as I heard they have won this cup 4 out the 5 times they have entered, not sure if true if someone could back me up on that.

do you think the 17's were reluctant to merge with the 18's due to their own results and perhaps not having the confidence to make that step up to the 18's where quite a few of the lads that i have seen play this year are much bigger physically?. like you say though much rather have one 18's team than no 18's and a 17's very short on numbers and confidence.
