One of our lads got married on Saturday which didnt help player selection (how selfish)

Fixture change for Saturday 10th September

Bank Quay Bulls A v Thatto Heath Crusaders - 2.30pm Kick Off @ Bank Quay

This fixture has been arranged as Accrington (Bank Quay's opponent) and Leyland (Thatto Heath's oppenent) are playing in the RLC Play-Off Final this weekend.

Well beaten by Chorley, think it was Bury 16-50odd Chorley. From a depleted squad of 15 we finished with 12, a few of us played with man flu and 4 finished with pretty bad injuries.

We started very cold and conceded 3 tries straight away, but then took control and had the better of the next half hour, scoring 3 tries and getting back in it, very even at half-time. Unfortunately we fell apart in the second-half as one went to hospital and others picked up knocks. Proud of the lads for grafting through a tough day.

Chorley were a lot bigger and played a simple but effective game - at least they started that way, but bombed 2 tries through showboating late on. Good game, very enjoyable and in good spirit even if the scoreline wasn't great!

I feel like complete crap. 70mins with what can only be really serious swine flu probably wasn't the best idea.

Chester 40 Wigan Riversiders 38

Really pleased with the effort from our guys, we pulled 16 players together, 3 of which where playing there first ever game of contact rugby league! And the game wasn't decided until the very last play of the game.

We start to get players back over the next week so we are looking forward to the trip to Chorley next weekend.

Cheers to Chester for the game, always a pleasurable experience.

very fustrating amateur rugby league at times, saturday we (Newton Storm) were all kitted out on the pitch warming up and 45 mins before kick off we get a call from folly Lane A to say they cant get a team so games off. apparently the first team were short of numbers so they took 6 from the second team.

45 mins before kick off is a joke. spoit my weekend that has

Its odd how things turn around each week, they complained because we cancelled the game against Folly Lane A last week.

Each week seems to bring more cancelled games.

and the Bolton game was off due to the pitch.

The issue may be that as clubs, we are preparing for March in some cases while the other reality is that you need a bigger squad. I look on my phone and have a theoretical 30 lads that could form the side...before saturday I looked at the 30 and took away injuries, then work commitments and it came down to 18ish. An illness on the day, a no-show and we played with 15 with many of them ill.

Injuries etc. meant we then finished with 12 and so we need to look at what those injuries mean - at least one is long-term following a hospital trip. We should have two lads back this week but at least one who's back in work so you're having to weigh it up all the time...
