| he was the perfect for us at the time. he doesn't/can't coach structure or shape, which is why we have struggled this season. however with the likes of sinfield out there he was astute enough to prepare them the basics and left them go and play. someone like wane who over coaches wouldn't have worked.
will he be good for rovers? for me he's totally the wrong choice. you need a powell/kear type coach who will organise and make you hard to beat

| Quote Jake the Peg="Jake the Peg"mcdermott is the luckiest coach alive. he was bang average at london then dropped on the best team in SL and they won 3 GF's and a couple of CC finals for him. The leaders of that team leave and suddenly you see what mcdermott is - completely clueless. Does any rovers fan honestly have any confidence he can come in and mould a side which can challenge for trophies? Not a cat in hell's chance'"
It'd depend on the resources available to him as much as anything. The one consolation in watching Hull's rise is what is possible with a couple of good years' investment/recruitment and organisation.
On the plus side he's been there seen it and done it. At a struggling club and a dominant one. Plus he's got a presence that, IMO, McNamara lacks.
Got to secure SL status first anyway.

| I'm not sure he's the right fit for us but you don't win 6 grand finals challenge cups WCC trophies from been lucky if it was all Sinfields or Peacocks doing then why wasn't Yorkshire Carnegie promoted this season and why are we in the bottom 2

Any idea why leeds wanted him, if as you say he was bang average? Still hes only won 3 s/l grand finals.a league leaders shield,2 challenge cups and a world club challenge and did the treble last year, not much of a record.Would expect radders will soon surpass that, only a matter of time eh!
What a complete joker you are, give your head a bang.

I'm guessing he has better resources at leeds now than he ever would at rovers and he's coached that team to bottom place in SL so unless you're signing jonathan thurston to work miracles for the coach then I'd suggest you start praying it won't be mcdermott

Yeah, the leeds fans love him and are desperate to keep him from hudge's outstretched arms. I could bang my head from now until the cows come home and I'd still be able to spot a cr4p coach better than you obviously can

You all said Radford was the worst coach in the world online petitions and all that now he's a coaching genius according to your fans and that's all in the space of 10 weeks

I don;t think anyone ha ever said radford was the worst coach in the world and there was only one online petition started by someone who many think is a rovers fan. I'm still far from convinced about radford but him and tony have built a squad which has gone from bottom 2 to one which is challenging at the top of SL within a couple of years so it's hard to be critical. mcdermott, meanwhile, has taken the most successful and richest side in SL in the opposite direction in 9 months.
Now it may be purely a co-incidence that leeds' most successful period in their history finished when sinfield left them and maybe mcdermott really is a great coach but I doubt it.
Anyway, I'm praying he is your next coach

| tbf it was a minority of about 10 who signed online petitions lol, I thought he wasn't the man for the job but was prepared to give him a chance as everybody derserves, any team sport is results driven and the coach is the first to go if they go t.ts up, I don't think hes a coaching genius but he seems to have got the players all singing of the same sheet and his general coaching seems to be improving as time goes on,

I know opinions are subjective, Jake, but on his record with the Rhinos over the last 5 years, you cannot say McDermott is a crap coach. If success is judged on results alone, he has to be up there with the best coaches of the SL era. Last year his team were peerless in all comps.
However, I have a problem with McDermott. He is a soulless and miserable git who harbours grudges against certain players and is perceived to blow smoke up the rear ends of a select few of his players for much longer than he should be doing. On that basis alone, his judgement is flawed and questionable and he would not be a good fit at our " community" club of latter- day deities.
