| Quote barham red="barham red"I'm not happy with it and neither are most I know but that wasn't the point. The point being you lot seem to think you hav that scraping a win against a depleted rovers side was some kind of statement of intent and coaching brilliance from Radford. In reality you were probably the worst side we've seen at our place all year despite being pretty much full strength (Pryce aside) no one of any note to come back in.
I hope LR gets a long contract extension now because come end of the season you'll all be slagging him off and not renewing as always.'"
We was awful for an hour, we had decisions against us, which if it wasn't on sky maybe would have been given, it was a depleted kr side but we was 4 scores down which you lot should have held onto, no matter what squad you had out, serious questions to ask when the worst away team you've seen come & do that to you.

| we had binman and manu missing as well, throw in we lost our halfback as well, you have biscuit legs and sicknote missing of any note, your right about us being crap for 60 min gave you 20 start then started to play and blew you lot out of the water, none of the supporters I know are getting to carried away with this win but to come back from 20 pts down in a RECORD comeback in a derby is well pleasing,i said at the beginning of the season we are a team that will finish 5/6 and imo that's how good we are, as for Radford still not totally sold on him, But for now hes got my full backing

| Quote barham red="barham red"Quick question. Do you think the win was all part of some fantastic game plan by master tactician Radford? You have the best squad you've ever had in SL (your words not mine) and yet you still can only scrape a win against not only the poorest side in SL (again your words) but the poorest side missing key players. The only time you looked any good was when your players threw the game plan out and played desperation rugby.
I'd give you the bit about beating us in 18 minutes if you'd blown us away then put the cue on the rack but to say that was the plan in the world of fantasy.
You'll win nothing with that coach, no game plan will always fail when the chips are down against the big boys.'"
The Radford debate is a non debate and you are right. However in a thread about our squad for tomorrow he is irrelevant.
We are forced to draft in teenagers, one who is 16? Why? Because our Board decided a small squad reliant on two expensive and injury prone halves was a good strategy. Because our Board decided to get rid of a raft of players in the 19-23 age bracket. Because our Board decided Bradford Bulls conditioning was the benchmark. Because our Board decided Lunt on a four year deal was good business. Because the result of these Board decisions has been playing injured players and compounding the issues. Is it right that we don't even provide massage to players now and they have to pay for it themselves.
Before we get the blame placed on Chester for recruitment - who decided he was worth a three year deal and who signed off his recruits? The reality is that without the current Board we would not be in Super League. It is also that they have made some average/poor/terrible choices over the last five years yet we are happy to "blame" injuries, Chester, Sandercock, Dixon, referees or Tony Christie rather than look at the decisions they've made and their consequences. It looks like our return from a possible 20 points could be 3 and the decisions that created this (ie coaching appointments, unbalanced too small risky squad, conditioning choices) were poor. It's hard to see how we can keep it respectable tomorrow but here's hoping to because exposing our young players to a hammering would be counter productive.

I don't think many Rovers fans would disagree with any of that. It didn't take a Rocket Scientist to realise your squad was not good enough or big enough.

At least you can see who's responsible for your squad, it's exactly what I posted. Neil & co are no good to take you forward, not if they see nothing's wrong with you're current state.

The reason we're supposedly not asking the hard questions is because the answers as pretty obvious, and sanguine is more efficient than tantrum.
For years we were told the board were being profligate and economic Armageddon awaited. Well, I guess this is what financial prudence looks like in the money pit world of professional sport.
Chester made a hash of pre-season, but he did the honourable thing. The board [icould[/i see something's wrong and are looking for somebody they think can put it right.
As one of the less wealthy clubs, we have to take some gambles. That is a systemic issue. We have to balance quality against depth - lots of both isn't an option. We have to take risks on players, because we can't afford to be shelling out transfer fees regularly. Some years you're going to roll more 1s than 6s.
Decision-making hasn't been great, with hindsight, but I can only think of a few times I've thought 'wtf' in advance and I wasn't always right on those. I was very pleased with the signing of Lunt and the extension for Campese last season, but their injuries have hampered us badly. Kelly looked like we'd rolled one of those 6s last season, and the fear was we wouldn't be able to hold onto him - that's less the case at the moment.

What was the 'honourable thing' Chester did?

That qualifies IMO.
We've wandered a long way from the squad announcement.
I guess Marsh will come in for Kelly and Dixon for Mantellato.
Then do you put Lawler or Greenwood in the second row? I'd go for Greenwood, with Lawler spelling him and Boudebza. Moran for Green on the bench. Cator's a backrower is he? Maybe he gets the last bench spot.

That would be the only realistic option, unless they went really leftfield and brought Oakes in and dropped Shaw/Cockayne

| Just to make you feel a little bit better there are four players from last years U19 team in Wigans squad for Monday, Gregson, Bretherton, Waterwoth and Gildart. Also Sutton aged 20 and Tierney aged 21.
