The final five minutes yesterday was possibly the most humiliating and abject surrender by a Hull KR side. As I expected the game was comfortably won but the loss of Cockayne meant we were not able to hold out.
Ironically this could be of benefit in the long term as the woeful judgment of the board and management in squad is given a free pass to get rid of their mistakes and we start again. The thing I question now is why as a Championship club we need a chairman, vice chairman, Lowe, Sheens, Smith and Peacock all in senior positions. When you think our squad is going to be the likes of G Horne and co, this seems very top-heavy to me when we're not even paying for players sports massages then complaining about injuries.
I have to say if we'd gone back to Sandercock's basics of youth development and sports science and got rid of him for Chester we would almost certainly still be in super league. Sadly the board remained stuck in the '80's ballboy' mindset and recruit the likes of Chester and Webster out of sentiment as if them having played for Rovers beats actual coaching competence. Unless we sort this out the road back will be a tough one. It may also help that FC won at Wembley so Hudgell can STFU about something almost forty years ago and which has zero relevance to today's league. Small time springs to mind.
