We were gash no doubt about it and your lot made hay, what didn't happen was that you werent tested and to be fair when we did have the ball in your half (rarely) we scored. If you come up against a team that can defend then I think your stuffed. Its ok having size when there are unlimited subs and a lenient ref but it just doesnt cut it anymore at the top level, Leeds weren't a massive side, neither are Wigan or Saints the top teams will tire you out and run around you.
As your facebook page has posted, this is your season highlight enjoy it, but in typical Hull fashion on the back of one preseason match your a top 4 side.
Don't forget this was our first game for most of our players, so there was always going to be some issues with our defence, I thought overall I defence was very strong, dominate and line speed much improved.
I dont think the top 4 predictions (not convinced myself) are based on the pre season, this has been building for a couple of years and has always been the plan to get our youth sorted and use them to bulk up the squad and use our money wisely on key players.
Nobody is predicting trophy's and not too many a top 4 finish, what we are after is an improvement on last season (Were at the break were 3 wins off 4th) and if we do we wont be far off 4th at the end of the year. It's going to be tough as Cas, Catalans, Hudds and Warrington look to have improved this year, along with Salford.

Really, by the end of last season it was all doom and gloom and if Radford stayed that was it. Pearson was seen as doing a dismantling job rather than a buildong one in the eyes of a lot of the fan base, pass sales down by around 10 - 20%. Now after only one friendly game this is your year once again. You may be one of the more level headed FC fansb but some of the over reaction is typical of the FC bipolar fan effect. Yes you have improved but 6th would be a good finish, all this talk of 4th and above will just set it up for more disappointment.

It seems to be common amongst rugby fans in hull. One friendly win and everything is rosy in the west. A couple of friendly defeats and wrists are being slit in the east. Don't try and convince yourself that people brought up in the same streets, often in the same houses, have any different outlook on things

The positivity has been there all pre season. This game just further reinforced it. At the back end of last year I seem to remember most fans being pretty content. We went from a what seemed like a hopeless situation when we lost to you and had 4 points from 8 games, to finishing 7th after 23 games. I think only 2 teams picked up more points in those 15 games, and Leeds weren't one of them. By then our squad was shot to pieces and everyone was happy with the way the youngsters performed in the 8's.
I am surprised by the fall in pass sales actually because most people you talk to say this is the most they've looked forward to a new season in a long while.
I do believe that we can make the 4. I think the squad is good enough, but I still have reservations about Radford. I guess we'll have a better idea in a few weeks whether this is going to just be another false dawn.

can not disagree with anything you say the league is very competitive this year 6th and a chance to have a real go in the play offs would be great and some entertaining rugby at home is all we can really ask
Having let the dust settle after Sundays debacle I am still left feeling extremely downbeat, usually I would be agree with the " its only a friendly shout" but its the manner and scoreline of the 2 games which really worry me. Everyone and anybody seems to see this teams failings, of which there are many but not the Coaching Staff? The body language is awful and I sense the dressing room isn't harmonious. We have stumped up a hell of a lot of cap on 3 injury prone players in Campese, Lunt and Kelly but failed to address the back row. I hope I am wrong regards team spirit/morale, and hope these two friendlies can be erased from the memory before the real stuff starts in 12 days. RRTR
IMO we can finish top6 and maybe if every thing falls into place challenge top 4 on the other hand it could all go t.TS up and we finish around 8 the lol. IMO you will do OK but the rumour about campese is worrying for you guys as he is your general
This is all very nice & pleasant isn't it between fans.
I don't mind a bit of banter from Rovers fans, but if the FC board was full of these patronising posts saying "everything will be alright", putting a metaphorical arm around me with empathy filling their eyes, I couldn't take it
In an effort to get back to normalcy - most of your team are crap, your defence is crap, your coach is crap, your pre-season is crap, your season will be crap, Kelly's hair is crap and Dixon's dancing is crap. Enjoy your visits to Leigh & Odsal in August.
