Agree with the above posts, all speak sense. Very unfortunate for Shenton. The reaction some times tells you about something a miss on the field, and not one cas player even reacts to it, and 4 of them are stood within 5 yards of the play the ball.

Shenton was still moving when boubedza tackled him, which means he is more then entitled too.

It will be an interesting outcome, as if he gets pulled for this it sets a trend which should be followed, and Wigan will suffer the most as the majority of their defence is set up like this. Watch how many times mcllorum does exactly the same action.

Feel for Shenton, never a ban though.

Did you get rid of all the voices in your head? Do you now miss them and the things that they said?

If you ignore the three or four players stood pointing at Boudebza then, no, no-one reacted.

One player was pointing as I'm not even sure he was pointing at French John

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

There must be some other footage that the disciplinary has used, as I can't really see much in the highlights that I have seen. It didn't appear to be a cannonball as it looks like first contact is around the hips and looked pretty much like the usual 2 up top, 3rd man trying to stop him stealing more with the leg drive that you see every week.

The contact with Shenton's legs could be Boudebza applying force with his legs like the Cas poster suggested, but could also have been an unfortunate accident as there appears to be a but of slipping around under very heavy conditions. From the highlights I don't know how you would be able to justify a charge, so they must have more evidence than we do.

Either way an ACL injury is bad news for the guy and I hope that he makes a full and timely recovery.

I think the charge is due to JB putting his weight sideways onto shentons standing leg, looks more of a player falling into the tackle rather than going to injure, at the worst its clumsy but looks more accidental to me.

Problem is that the panel will be swayed by the damage caused rather than the actual incident. As has been said if Shenton stands up and plays the ball, nothing would be said about it. He'll cop a 2 matcher tho.

These tackles happen without players getting injured but obviously go unpunished. Maybe they should outlaw certain types of tackles and not just the ones that end up with injuries.

First off - gutted for Shenton. Perhaps the rules could be amended to minimize the risks further - earlier calls of 'held', maybe. Too many players are missing too many games IMO and it is damaging the spectacle.

The Sky footage clearly shows he goes in 3rd man, low then when he misses his knee with the shoulder he levers the side of it with his thigh instead. An ACL injury is consistent with trauma to the side of the Knee which is the exact place Boudebza applied the pressure.

Fully expect the RFL to cop out of it and cry poor camera angles, it's just how they work.

It wasn't a cannonball tackle though, which is why it isn't the same grade as Chase last season but it is undue pressure - the same as a grapple or chicken wing.

Due to something that once happened to me in a professional capacity, I will always defend the correct use of the word consistent. And you have used it correctly. However, it's strength/usefulness stems from its weakness.

If your thesis is that Shenton has injury due to foul play by Boudebza, then Shenton being injured and Boudebza being in the vicinity are consistent with that. However that falls a long way short of proof and it'd equally be consistent with other theses.

Permissable.

Gronk! wrote:
low then when he misses his knee with the shoulder

Doesn't look like he goes in especially low to me - looks like he hits about hip level. Reverse the assumption of intent in 'misses his knee' to 'avoids his knee', and it sounds rather different, doesn't it?

Gronk! wrote:

To me, based on the pictures I've seen, it just looks like everybody falls over. If there was anything resembling intent we'd have more Hull fans pointing it out, I assure you. A different angle might tell a different story, but if you're basing your assessment on the clip I saw, I really can't agree.

Gronk! wrote:

Who knows - I share your lack of faith in the system, though I'd be less confident that it'll favour us. You say the camera angle we've seen 'clearly shows...' and to me it isn't poor. I don't think it shows what you see in it, but unless there is another that does, it couldn't be fairly labelled a cop out.
