Against Warrington two of our forwards were teenagers and another had turned 20 only about a week before.

Peacock’s prescription of patience and sticking with the kids got us relegated in 2016. When added to problems he inherited, in fairness. Almost as painful as going down was knowing that by ‘refusing to panic’, we had let it happen. Intensified by the narrowness of the margins. I hope and believe that we’re now immune to that bs. If we go down again, I want to know that we did so biting and scratching and not in any way burdened by thoughts of doing what is imagined ‘right’ rather than acting in our own best interests.

A bit like this Cronulla reserve grade prop Leeds have just signed i suppose, keeping you local talent out at Leeds when he gets there, or an over the hill JJB keeping young lads out.

Ava Seumanufagai has 118 NRL appearances, he’s had to leave Cronulla due to salary cap pressures.

The four youngsters Mikolaj Oledski, Cameron Smith, Tom Holroyd and Owen Trout, all forwards, have been one of the few positives for us this year.

Antoni Maria did OK considering he got the plane Thursday checked in at CP Friday said hello to his teammates and then played Sunday.

It really is ridiculous to criticise him in the circumstances. He is after all here for 3 games to basically bolster the numbers in an acute injury crisis affecting Rovers forwards.

Lannon in his first game for months was gasping after 15 minutes and was withdrawn. He came back and he too did OK in the circumstances. Both he and Maria will be better for the run out.

Rovers had 5 players who would not have played had there been anyone else less injured. So I for one welcome Antoni Maria he may well be a fleeting presence but good on him for fronting up and helping the cause in a very tough situation.
