Thought Grix divided opinion?First time in recent years Wakey fans seem hopeful of a good season? Looking forward to watching tomorrow's game then ours on Friday.Bookies giving us 4 point start which sounds about right.I like our centres but just hope they get ball in hand and not facing wave after wave of forwards. We will see

He does. Frankly Avenger is entitled to his opinion but personally I thought it a bit OTT. Far to early to be that confident imo no matter who you support. I'm just as nervous this year as any other tbh I've seen the wheels fall off before.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Re: Wakey at Home : Thu Feb 01, 2018 2:45 am
Grix doesn't really split opinion, pretty much every Wakey fan can see how important he is to the team and the work that he gets through. What does split opinion is with his understudies at fullback, young Jowitt is an excellent prospect but he struggles to get game time ahead of Grix (because Grix rarely does anything to risk his spot). We also have a younger player (Hooley) who is just breaking out of the academy and is putting pressure on both Grix and Jowitt for a spot. This is what causes tension amongst the Wakefield fans, many want Jowitt to be given more of a role in the fear that we will lose him if we don't. My hope is that with a reserve grade this season, he will be able to get some quality game time and continue to push Grix for the number 1 jersey.

Anyway, that's all but irellivant to Friday night, I'm expecting a tough battle which could go either way, but I think the size and mobility of the Wakefield pack will probably edge the game towards Wakefield in the final quarter. It should make for a good game though as long as the conditions aren't too poor.

Good luck for the season ahead

All of it tbh but I actually hope your assessment is right I'd love it to be so. I just don't have quite your belief, years of disappointment I suppose.

Sorry but that's not right imo. I'm pro Grix I think he makes a huge difference but there are loads who don't rate him and never will. You might not like it but it's a fact, a real marmite player if ever there was.

That is an absolutely massive overexageration as per usual for you, there were only a handful of posts on the Northstanders last season about him being poor, and a good 95% of responders were defending him. Same when you're stood in the terraces, a very small minority who moan about everything moan about him.

That's what I've read on your forum last few year,a real split over Grix.Of course last season was a pretty good one and smoothed it a bit? Fullback is great when your team is rolling forward and rarely are you left 1 on 1 with a 22 stone lump at full pelt and instead you are chiming in the line and finishing or providing final pass for try.Dixon and Cockayne for us last few Superleague season took more hits than Kiss.Dixon behind a dominant pack could/would have been a star imo.Again lots of ways this year can go for both our sides but hopefully we both prosper
