A part-time second tier team sitting 9th of 12 in their division. On the handful of other occasions that I can recall tier 2 teams beating SL opposition in recent years, it has always been one of the very best teams in the lower division.
I'm always reluctant to go overboard, as the next result can make you look foolish, but...
Right now I can't see how we can avoid the spoon, and all the talk of putting faith in the kids for the rest of the year makes me think there's a tacit acceptance that it's likely.
I can't see us winning many more games before the 8s, not that it makes a massive amount of material difference - but you don't want morale and confidence... well, where they are right now presumably, going into the games that do matter.
I'm gradually moving from hoping we avoid the million pound game, to hoping we make it.
And you wonder how much more appetite there is at the top for this. 6-84 obviously shook them, 0-50 was hard to swallow, but they were bracketed by slightly better form.
At least Wakefield are showing that better times can follow, if you survive an abysmal season.
