It may be that WP wanted to do certain things but Chester as head coach overruled him. Perhaps now that he has sole control of the systems, selection and tactics things will improve. Either way it seems he'll be here till at least June and perhaps longer. We all need to get behind him and the team.
In that case Poching doesn't have a mind of his own, as any coach worth his salt would complain at the very least and possibly even resign if his input was continuously been overruled like you suggest.
The truth is, he had the reigns regarding the defensive side of things and based on last years plus the current season to date, has not shown enough of the quality required at this level to warrant a fulltime coaching position imo.
I personally believe the club may keep him as a back up for a while at least, while seeking the right candidate for the full time position.
Thing is the club has to get it right this time so with that in mind I think they will go for some one with proven pedigree, perhaps we can expect to see one of the coaches mentioned in the press given the job, or it could just as well be someone that no one expects.
In fact the only thing we can all be sure about in this game is you are as well to expect the unexpected.
