Looking to next week against the Leeds Rhinos : Sun Aug 23, 2015 8:04 pm
So, we've got through the middle 8 games and, in all honesty, our Super League survival is pretty much guaranteed at this stage. Onto Wembley and our third game of the season against the Leeds Rhinos now! Just exactly how can Hull KR manage what almost no other teams have done this year and be able to beat Leeds and win the cup? This year, they beat us at the KCL 30-40 and at Headingley 36-16 so we have a total score for the year of 46 - 76 against us. Compare with some other Super League teams, against Wigan the score is 50 - 40 to Leeds, against Saints the score is 87-34 to Leeds, against Wire the score is 55-28 to Leeds and against Hull the score is 68-42 to Leeds, so our 30 point differential is not too terrible, especially when you start looking at some of the scores for Wakey and Salford!
Leeds have the healthiest +/- in the league by 136 points. They have scored the most tries, kicked the most goals and made the most metres. I guess the point I'm trying to make is to emphasize the enormity of the task KR have next weekend. We need to find their weakness and be able to exploit whatever opportunities are given to us because Leeds score plenty of points and we need to match them in this respect. I don't think we can grind out a win against Leeds like we did against Widnes. Their attack is just too good, they will score tries. Can KR minus (perhaps) Albert Kelly unlock the Leeds defence enough times to make it count?
