Dave Woods has been sacked as head coach of the Knights and Chris Thorman has taken over the role.

He still lived in Gateshead had a pub in York and he wanted a full time post, the club could not afford to give him one.

I do not think that is true.His wife and daughter lived in Gateshead and still do.His wife was taken ill and this occurred before the 'agreement' for 2 years was agreed - his ambition to coach in Super League was also known before he arrived at the club in 2010 and also before he signed the 'agreement'. A neutral observer,given the official statements since Dave arrived,could perhaps conclude that there has been an underlying current to usurp Dave. I am not aware of too many clubs who have their coach have to give an official statement on their method of recruitment as here. It was only in July that a Squad Builder Fund was set-up which has apparently helped in a number of signings. Dave recruited a number of young players to the reserve side with a view to their development and long term future of the club but only recently that reserve side was disbanded. Once again Dave has been the victim because he has been at a club with a sole owner/front man and sometimes what I would describe as a 'cancerous caprice' can strike. No problems.Everyone at York,owner,new head coach,and supporters are happy. Dave remains the only bloke I know whose only luck is no luck or bad luck but lives,breathes,sleeps and sweats rugby league and has great bouncebackability and even when he is the victim of a great wrong just wants to get back to working with rugby league players. Somebody,somewhere will be intelligent enough,have the vision,and the luck and appoint Dave as their coach.Judging someone in such a short space of time is ridiculous.Ideas and abilities take time to come to fruition.Some bloke in soccer was given a knighthood and he struggled for 4 years at the richest club in the world before he started to be successful.
