Im a Keighley supporter,i would like to say ever so well played today, you gave us a fright there.!Obviously we scraped home but I strongly feel, you wont need to suffer a play off final this season,I reckon youll win the league, you have recruited very well, so all the best to you for the season.

to be quite honest, I felt that we should have won the game with something to spare, we bombed so many chances it was untrue, turning point was when best got sin binned, 3 tries in that spell really cost us dearly.
plus points: hemmingway is a class act, looked very dangerous with ball in hand
an aggressive pack, willing to mix it up and ruffle a few feathers, thats what we lacked last year
an ability to cut a side to shreds at times down the middle and finish (a few) especially when best went 60m from a kickoff

negatives: penalties, far too many not least from hobson, lost count of number of penalties he gave away
sin binning, didnt see why he got binned, but it cost us the game
flat line, when we broke through late on and got tackled, we seemed to lack ideas, doesn't help when your line is flat and stationary, not much svabic or hemmingway could do at that point.

That being said Keighley did well to come back and clinch it the way they did, however feel it may be a long hard year for the cougars.

No doubt we will improve as season progresses, still saw enough signs to say we will most certainly be top of table contenders come end of the season, 2010 year of the panther :D

Brad Fitler "If the ref's decision decides your game. You haven't done enough prior."

Referees are like women, they make snap decisions and never reverse them.

For me we were never going to win the NR Cup so treat it as an advanced friendly. Plenty to suggest that once we are really gelling we are going to take some teams to the cleaners.

Cougars looked good when Shickell was on the pitch and occasionally clueless without him.

Roll on the real thing anyway.

NB Not sure what Steve McCormack will have made of the match. Oh and ge's shorter than I had imagined.

Listened in on Radio Rhinos and it sounded like we got a bit lucky.

We did have 3-4 players out and a couple of youngsters Dan Belcher and James Haythornthwaite played.

Interesting what you've said about Andy Shickell, he underperformed a bit last season but looked to have lost a fair bit of weight and had toned up significantly when I saw him last week.

I think our new fitness guru's regime might have made the difference in this game.

Good luck for the season ahead, you've added some class players to your side so you should do really well.

And before that at Halifax. Not what you want from the captain really, is it? Sounded like a good win for Cougars although I do feel Blackpool let them off the hook. Early doors and I'm sure Panthers will be there ans there abouts come the end of the season.

I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!

Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

Anon.

Re: Hope you cruise it! : Mon Feb 01, 2010 2:23 pm
Bit of a strange game really, blackpool played with real intensity, invention and pace in the first half, but Keighley more than made up for that in the second, and although they gave a way easy ball at the death, some solid defence right up to the whistle meant they just deserved to win.

You also have to remember that Keighley had a man in the bin at the same time as Blackpool.

Blackpool should have a good season but will have to watch out for the niggle, it could be a long season if you get the refs on your case.

Keighley will need to play consistently like they did in the second half if they wany to win any games in the higher division. Hope lessons are learned by both sides.
