Well, what do you all think?

http://www.panthersrlfc.net/main/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=167:buy-a-home-shirt&catid=42:info

Personally I think it's a sadly typical modern RL shirt, no nods to heritage or consistancy in style/format.

There's far too much black (black in summer, when will they learn :? ) and not enough tangerine/white.

Last season's was a proper instantly recognisable BLACKPOOL shirt and we should have kept the theme going.

I hope for the club's sake they do sell plenty, but I won't be amongst them.

Would be really interested to hear what others think.

Personally I like it. I like black RL shirts and I don't like having too much tangerine on it as I would rather distance ourselves from Blackpool Football Club. To me orange is the colour of the football club irrespective of the history of Blackpool Borough. Then again I liked the white and tangerine shirt last season.

Be interested to see what the material is like. Bought one for youngest stepson back in our inaugural season which was very poor. Last season's looked fine to me though.

I quite like it. I take on board Seagull's comments re. orange and blackpool, but then I wouldn't actually want to wear an orange jersey when going down the pub or such. Whereas this is quite wearable.

Might be tempted to buy one as not bought an r.l. for about 2 years as Wigan's efforts have been poor.

I might be biased, but im not keen, it reminds me of the first panthers kit, but I advised that Blackpool should stay with the original tangerine B&W hoop for a few years to givve something consistent in the town for neutrals/not yet converts to recognise.

Ive seen the jerseys in the flesh, and I have to say im not convinced by the quality of Oneills, everything is sublimated, I like something that looks like a bit of effort was put into it for my £40, a bit of embroidery goes a long way, and the designs are off the shelf oneills ones, so it seems we arent important enough for oneills to create something for us.

Apart from that, its only a jersey, and as long as the teams winning, who really cares right?

The bit highlighted is pretty much the point I was getting at. Most clubs have something that is unique to them that even when they change the strip, there is a level of recognisabilty and consistancy within the new design.

Some sort of hooped design would have been preferable imho, even if not the same as last year.

Look at the way Leeds re-invented their traditional hoops on last season's kit, very classy I thought.

The "black panel with flashy trim" is almost cliched now, it's time to go back to traditional, easily recognisable strips, that give a club and it's supporters a real sense of identity.

Just my opinion

If you look on the O'Neills website you'll see that both of Widnes' kits are just off the shelf kits that have been tweeked for Widnes.

Also i agree with you about it not having anything embroided on it as Widnes' jersey's last year had the badge and one of the sponsors embroided on them and this year they are just printed on which i am sure that all the clubs who get jersey's off O'Neills will say that they are cheaper to produce so that the clubs get more money from each one sold.
