Betfred Championship and League One restructure, 2024-26 Ahead of the start of the Betfred Championship season in Sheffield and Wakefield this Friday night, the Championship and League One clubs have had confirmation of a managed transition of the competition structure below Super League over the next two seasons, to produce two divisions of 12 clubs from 2026. I think I've got this right but please correct me if I haven't...

In the 2024 season, the bottom two are relegated from the Championship. The top team in League One is promoted.

The third bottom side in the Championship is then involved in a play-off match (venue not known) against the team that wins the League One play-offs. The winner will be in the Championship in 2025, the loser will be in League One.

In effect, there is slightly more jeopody for us than before as we will need to finish 11th or better (as opposed to 12th or better) to be sure of being in the Championship next season.

Yes thats about right, think I have now seen it said the game will be at The Championships ground.

If this had been last year, after beating North Wales we would have had to go to Whitehaven and win to earn promotion

At least the rules have been announced (just) before the season started rather half way through, which would be the usual RFL style.
