The final league game of the season. With N Wales playing Swinton on Saturday, we'll know exactly what we need to do on Sunday.

Here's a reminder of the various scenarios:

How we finish second: Can’t be done as Swinton or N Wales get points in their final game so we can't catch them.

How we finish third: We beat London and overtake the losers of Swinton v N Wales on points difference.

How we finish fifth: We lose to London and Rochdale beat Keighley

How we finish fourth: We beat London but don’t overcome the Swinton/N Wales points diff or we lose to London with Rochdale losing to Keighley.

The winner of the Oldham v Hunslet game will finish in the last play-off place. A draw will suffice for Hunslet.

Dons and points diff:
We’re 78 points adrift of N Wales and 253 adrift of Swinton. Realistically we can’t overtake Swinton.
We need Swinton to beat N Wales by as many as possible (which will come off their +78, and we need to make up the rest of the difference when beating London).
If we can beat London by 78, it would guarantee we’d be above N Wales providing they lost to Swinton.

Play-offs: The team finishing second gets a bye in the first round of the play-offs. Team 3 is at home to Team 4. The winners is then away to Team 2. The winner of that match is at home in the final. The losers gets a second chance but would be away in the final.

Best scenario is that Swinton beat N Wales, we overcome the N Wales points diff and then play N Wales at home in the first play-off game, followed by a trip to Swinton. A win at Swinton would see us at home in the final.

If we finish fourth, we're away to the loser of this weekend's N Wales v Swinton game, then away to the winner of the N Wales v Swinton game. Winning both would mean we'd be at home in the final.

The play-off format in full is below:

Saturday: N Wales 12, Swinton 38.

The Dons need to beat London by 51 points to overtake N Wales and finish third.

That would then mean we'd play N Wales at home in the first play-off game. Should we not win by 51 points, we'll be away to N Wales in the first game.

The winner of that match will then be away at Swinton.

London have only lost by more than 50 points on their travels twice this season:

Keighley 96-0 (-96)
Swinton 58-14 (-44)
N Wales 30-16 (-14)
Rochdale 32-14 (-18)
Hunslet 43-16 (-27)
Oldham 60-6 (-54)
Midlands 50-28 (-22)
Cornwall 20-24 (+4)
W Wales 16-38 (+22)

Keighley and Oldhan have done it. Swinton and N Wales failed. Can we do it?

Well.....
Dons beat Skolars 12-44 at THEIR place.
That is +32.
So we can beat them +51 in MY book. :D

London's last six games:
London 38, Midlands 34
Oldham 60, London 6
London 68, W Wales 18
London 46, Cornwall 6
Rochdale 32, London 14
Hunslet 43, London 16

I don't know whether there was a reason (injuries, suspensions, etc) for London's poor showing against Oldham but they seem to have been performing to a decent level lately (by their own standards). They've won three of their last four, albeit against the teams at the wrong end of the table.

If Midlands beat Cornwall today (which they probably will), they'll overtake London in the table if London lose to us. From that point of view, Skolars have something play for. They might be more switched on than if there was nothing to play for.

If we can get on top in the first half and be 20 ahead by half-time, I'd fancied our chances of getting the 51 points of point diff. If we're no more than 12 ahead at half-time, it would be much harder.

The bookies line seems about right for normal circumstances but we've got a reason to win by more... and that ought to be key. I think it's going to be a close call but it certainly makes for an interesting game today.

I'll put my neck on the line ...

I think the Dons will cover the Bookies Handicap (30) but not the '51'.

Stop being optimistic its misleading

I'll have a 50p wager we don't achieve the desired score. The for and against amount should have been put to bed before this deadline.
