I've been wanting to do this for a while. Like most people on here I'm sure these last 18 months have been hard. The return of live rugby has been a blessed relief. The reason I'm saying this is really to anticipate anything crazy I say going forward. On January 3rd I suffered a huge loss. The most important person in my life took her own life I can't see a point when I won't be struggling with this but I try to aim for normality and the Dons and everyone I know through the club help me out with this. It's taken 6 months for me to have the courage to say this. Hope it's ok.

Rob, I'm really sorry to hear about your sad loss. I can't start to understand how hard everything must have been and how hard everything must still be.

Remember all the good times you had and cherish them forever.

I lost two people who were very close to me in 2002 and it took me a very long time to get over it. No, I don't think you ever 'get over it', you just learn to live with it a little bit better as time passes. At one point, I didn't think I was going to be able to move forwards but I did manage to turn that corner. I hope you're able to as well.

As Mike said, try to focus on the happy times. As difficult as it may seem right now, you will heal over time and opening up as you have can only be helpful.

Sorry to hear of your loss Rob and condolences. Grief is a sod of an emotion and individuals carry it in different ways. I've been through the mill with it over the past couples of years and the effect is shocking at times. There will be good days and bad days and it seems that the latter far outweigh the former.

A cliché I know, but time is a healer and talking about your loss is good step towards that healing process. Take care of yourself and I really do hope that the Dons can help you recover your composure and belief in the human spirit.

Thanks for all of the kind words lads. It's been a dark 6 months and the only person I've talked to about it amongst fellow supporters is Col. I'm glad to have said something because something like this is very personal but this club has been like an extended family to me for decades now and it's important not to bottle stuff up.

Cheers Brian. Since losing Rachel it's been hard. I appreciate more than ever how short and valuable life is. More than anything I want to take pleasure in stuff like sport. Stuff that's there for our enjoyment. I love this club and I know last week was a blip. Let's hope for a great win tonight and a great 2nd half to the season for The Dons.
