Another tough game this Sunday and up against a very decent outfit in a relegated Rochdale side. A win for us would be good, but if the Hornets win it would not be a shock.

Really hoping that we can cut down on the penalty count and put up a good performance.

I'd agree. Need to cut down penalties. The main issue though is repeated penalties. Need to face up and not do owt stupid in the following set. Even if we don't concede it's extra work. I know this is teaching your granny how to suck eggs but it's obvious.

Apart from the blatently stupid penalties, most of them are the result of being on the back foot, usually when not being able to control the ruck speed, or when under constant pressure near your own line. The key for me is that we must control the ruck better. If we do that the penalty count will drop.

Ultimately, the best way to avoid penalties is to play the game in your opponents' half.

The most annoying penalties are for 'back chat' or when in possession. They really are killers.

I'm really looking forward to Sunday's game. We've had some right battles against Rochdale over the years. Let's hope we can win this one!

Always like the away fixture DM and an excuse to visit The Cemetery :DRUNK: Had a battle at Rochdale myself years ago, the day Latham got sent off.

My last memory of going to Spotland was when Paul Cooke was playing. We were under the cosh and couldn't get away from our own line and had yet another drop out under our own sticks. He did a grubber kick and dived on the ball 10 metres out. What relief!

I didn't think he was the right man for the job when he first came but I was really sad when he left. He had a rugby brain and a half. It's such a shame things went wrong so badly in the season he left.

No wonder you enjoyed a drink in The Cemetery, Wilf. Rochdale is usually like a graveyard for us!

Like it. :thumb:

Had a quick look on the book of face and the Cemetery Hotel has survived the lockdown. Roll on 15th August.

Somewhere in Bonny Donny (Twinned with Krakatoa in 1883).

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

Thank God I'm an atheist.

I expect the Dons to win this game.
But to play a side with glaring passengers tells me we are making things hard for ourselves.
I am pretty sure what is wrong with the Dons...
I won't stir up the blinkered faithful any more than that.
COYD
I hope the players I don't care for show me I am wrong.
