If PNG hadn't reached the quarter-finals, these lads probably wouldn't have played enough times for their country to get a visa. They've now played six times after reaching the quarter finals. I think this was the minimum number of caps Carl said was required for a player to possibly get a visa. Don't wait for the authorities to make a decision, Hally, send Carl a message now. He's done all he can. The final outcome is a red tape issue not a Carl issue. Either way, Carl needs a pat on the back for this initiative. The competition to sign decent players from the World Cup must have been quite intense and for a League One side to get a couple of PNG players would be quite an achievement.

With regards to season ticket sales, it'd be handy if we'd got the numbers updated weekly but if those numbers aren't extremely positive, it could have a negative affect on other sales between now and Christmas, and we don't want that to happen either. Personally I hope there's a big push with more publicity during the final week leading up to Christmas as I suspect that's when most sales will take place.

Hi Mike where did you get the appearance figures from ?

With regards season ticket sales , the community nights haven't been announced yet .

Carl said to me at launch night that the minimum qualifying number was 6 games for their country.
He ought to know.
So the deal is do-able.

Always happy to help is old Stand-Offish....

It says 5 apiece on Wiki as of 12 Nov for Stanton and 19 Nov for Wellington.
Dunno if it is right.

Here's a link to the rules details (or "How to make things as complicated as you possibly can!") Page six is the interesting one: http://media.therfl.co.uk/docs/RFL%20GBE%20FINAL%202017.pdf

I got the appearance stats from Wikipedia. Stanton Albert had played 5 games on 12th November 2017. PNG played again in the quarter finals on 19th November. I assumed Stanton played bringing him up to six. I might be wrong.

Wellington Albert's Wiki record shows 5 games played up to 17th November. This would imply he's not reached the six game requirement.

Checking the teams for the game on 19th November. Stanton Albert was a sub, Wellington was given the boot (bad joke! ) and didn't play.

If the Wiki figures are accurate, it would suggest Stanton is on six games with Wellington on five. I'll have a look round to see if I can get any other details of their playing records.

I can hear it now from the 1000 season ticket holders in the stand ... to the tune of a famous Adam Ant hit ..
as he breaches the opposition line.
Stanton Delivered!!!

And as his bro takes the ball in ... ' Give it some beef Wellington!'

Here's a link to the 2017 Rugby League World Cup site - check out the PNG players to find Stanton and Wellington:

http://www.rlwc2017.com/teams#Papua-New-Guinea

If that site is correct, Wellington had 3 caps before the 2017 comp started; Stanton had 2.

PNG played four matches in total:

28th October v Wales: Stanton played, Wellington didn't play.

5th November v Ireland: Both Stanton and Wellington played.

12th November v USA: Neither played

19th November v England: Stanton played, Wellington didn't.

That would give Stanton two previous caps plus three more = 5. Wellington would have 3 previous caps plus one = 4.

These numbers contradict the Wiki numbers. Let's hope there's a few more caps around that we don't know about.

The PNG rugby league website is hopelessly out of date, so that's not giving us any clues at all.
