Don Valley Stadium, where Olympian Jessica Ennis trains, is to be demolished as part of proposals to save £50m from its 2013-2014 budget.

Isn't this the same non story which we were told about the Keepmoat last year and we're still here?

No this time it is different. The council has voted to demolish the stadium. Whereas this was just an option put forward for the Keepmoat.

The Eagles offices are at the Don Valley and they train there and play most matches there too (just 8 at Bramall Lane). So this is a very different scenario.

Doncaster Council genuinely wanted to see the stadium remain (as was bourne out by the eventual outcome). To me Sheffield Council are making a very political statement.

Let's hope they sort something out then.South Yorkshire rugby doesn't need this.

They'd be better off at the new stadium in Rotherham - Don Valleys a bit of a soulless place to watch RL.
