 FC Fightback to Claim Vikings Victory The play-off for the eights as Denis Betts' Widnes Vikings took on Lee Radfords' Hull FC on the plastic pitch at Halton Park. With eighth spot against ninth it was all to play for. Both sides had big wins in Newcastle and both came into the game full of confidence and hoping to make a pitch for fifth spot in Superleague ahead of the rest of the weekends fixtures. A win for the Vikings would lift them into that fifth spot but it was a bigger ask for Hull who needed to win by sixty-three or more to make the same jump up the table. A seventeen point win would, however, see them above Castleford Tigers and into sixth, and that with a game in hand over the sides above them. It was a crucial game for both sides.
