Widnes before Barrow? : Wed Dec 30, 2009 1:53 pm
Your having a laugh! Well it certainly makes me laugh when Widnes fans think that they have a god given right to be next team in SL. Considering they have yet to win the big one in the Championship...Fact! For a team that failed to cut it, consistently on the field, when it mattered there seems be a lot self pitty surrounding your position. Can we have a reality check please...?

Re: Widnes before Barrow? : Wed Dec 30, 2009 2:11 pm
Fact - Widnes have appeared in numerous finals over the last 5 years
Fact - Widnes have won 2 NRC finals in the last few years
Fact - Widnes have a better stadium than Barrow
Fact - Widnes have better sponsorship than Barrow
Fact - Widnes are the best supported club outside the top flight
Fact - Widnes run youth teams at every level

Which Widnes fans said we have a good given right to be in Super League? we have everything in place that a modern forward thinking club should have. Barrow are a good club and are continuing to develop at a good pace, they do however lack in quite a few areas. Your club Wakefield are skating on very thin ice and you know it.

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

You are an idiot if you are comparing these two clubs as potential SL entrants in 2012

Strictly speaking Barrow have achieved little up to now , they have assembled a good playing squad and have increased their attendances from a low starting point on the back of that success , they are still miles behind Widnes on support

The big sticking point is the stadium , and while it is good that they have assets in the form of the current ground , to reach the bare minimum requirements to score a point in the next round of franchises they need at least a 10/15 million pound investment in the stadium , they need to achieve this before may 2011 , basically 18 months from now

an atmosphere that isn't created by people in matching shirts clapping along to a drum or novelty PA music might be nice!

FAO Barrow fans:

Your dreams have been our reality for years. We may not be so high and mighty anymore, but we are still head and shoulders above you in terms of the next application. FWIW you have probably a better squad, and I fancy your chances to go all the way again, but don't let it be forgotten up until last season you were struggling to make ends meet and have a saviour in Des. You can compare that to SOC if you like, but we already have a fanbase in place!

Come back when you have a better stadium, a fanbase to equal the chemics, an academy and youth policy to be proud of and a chariman who isn't a fat gob$h*te. The terrace chant 'Where were you when you were S**t' springs to mind, don't forget it was only 2-3 years ago you could only dream of beating a club like us, perish the thought of getting into two finals in a season. So read, weap and get back to building ships!

Widnes have never won the NL/Championship GF...Fact! The club that wins that has the moral right to promotion. Widnes had there chance in SL and at promotion and they just didn't have it in them to compete when it matters.......Fact!

As a passionate believer in P/R I firmly think that Barrow have a moral right to enter SL. As for Leigh/Widnes/Halifax and other set of moaners that haven't won the GF, well hard luck. You should learn to compete on the field and then come back to us!
