As a supporter of neither side i find it bizzare that a big club like St Helens would pick, with all due respect, a no-mark club like Widnes for such a historic game. It's no like their rivals or ever have been.
If it's a derby they wanted then surely there's better options than the Vikings?

I find it bizzare that a bellend such as yourself still expects to be taken seriously on here.
You seem suicidal because McNamara hasn't picked your precious Mickey Mac, who's better than Roby, and Darryl 'Meninga' Goulding who makes Jamie Lyon look like an amateur.

Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”
There's a Wooly over there, baggy kecks and feathered hair with a 3 star jumper half way up his back, that’s a fecking Wooly back! Oooh-to… Oooh-to-be… Oooh-to-be-a… WOOLY!

I believe that they wanted to launch their stadium, in a prestigious manner, with two former World Club Champions going head to head. They thought about Wigan, but they play them too many times now and it is making their main derby game that little less special. They thought about Bradford and Leeds, but came to the conclusion that the local derby we now play in pre-season (The Karalius Cup) would bring in more fans.
Obviously, Warrington wouldn't be in a position to be considered.
They dont give prices for the East Stand which is the "away" end but I imagine it would be the same as the "Home" Western terrace , both are standing , if you want to sit then your choices are of course the South or North Stands

Nonsense. Widnes are more than welcomed to be our first opponents by Saints fans and we're pleased to see our near neighbours back in the big time. I just hope our traditional Easter Monday derby is resurrected.
As for 'no rivalry',well i can say back in the mid-80s when i first started to be took to RL games as a kid, Widnes were always regarded as our 2nd biggest game after Wigan, and were for years after that until the demise of Widnes. We are neighbouring towns so there will always be local rivalry at stake.
