No one seems to be mentioning it but the leveller was the wind. In the first half they had it and dominated, in the second we had it and battled.

Had Martin pouched the interception and McIntosh not fumble his late chance we make it look like a game, somehow.

Just shows how we capitulated when thing were against us in first half. In second we actually managed to have a few chances.

Frustrates me when there’s a loose ball we try to score from it and end up losing it rather than dropping on it and securing possession

The first half was woeful. Rovers did play some good rugby with the wind at their backs but we just never gave ourselves a chance. We looked laboured and disorganised and nothing went well at all.

The second half however did show us a way that we might be able to be more competitive. Charles looks very talented, and Brown looks a totally different player at 9. I also thought Ese'ese played pretty well again and Pele, if he can keep his discipline, does have something about him. If Smith can get over his obsession with always picking Houghton, and if he puts trust in Charles, I do think we can play some better rugby and win a few games. I'm not sure he will though, that's the problem.

Thank you for a balanced view. Charles was ordinary at Huddersfield but played behind some go forward today. People going on about Houghton. His scoots and defence are vital but I like brown at hooker. Can only guess why Balmforth isnt selected. Sorry about some replies from my fellow Hull fans. Thought Rovers have potential and even we have the shoots of recovery but we are way behind you guys

If Smith reverts back to Houghton at 9 next week then just shows he’s lost the plot.

For me Danny has been a great servant but it’s time to put a fork in him as he is done.
We have an international 9 in Brown and two young players in Charles and Balmforth who have the ability but need to be given a proper chance.

I said earlier in the week that we should leave Houghton out altogether, Litten to full back whilst Walker is out, Hoy to six and Charles on the bench.
We went backwards at Huddersfield when Houghton came on and today played better when Houghton went off.
Charles was a breath of fresh air but Smith is bang average at halfback so we have to give Charles/Hoy a run at halfback so we can inject some zip and speed and hopefully provide some better last tackle options.
At least then we can have two nines playing nine
Hopefully Smith will be on his way before next week so lets hope we have someone sensible picking the team rather than the out of touch dogmatic tinkering Tony

"I hope we get to the bottom of the answer"

Houghton has popped a rib according to Tony, so he'll be missing for a bit you'd think.
Ashworth has also injured his thumb which is a blow as he has been good.
Staveley has a meniscus problem and will be missing for anything from 2-6 weeks.

I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.

Well, it wasn't quite the one-way annihilation I was anticipating earlier in the week (although at half-time I was expecting it to end at 70 plus!).

First half was simply dreadful, all the usual faults and bad traits we have become so used to, especially in recent weeks.

They at least showed a modicum of energy and fight in the second half to avoid an afternoon of total humiliation, but overall still way below what we would expect from a Hull Fc team in a derby game. We still created very little in the way of genuine scoring chances.

Thought rovers seemed to struggle to get restarted after the break, as if the first forty minutes had been so easy for them they didn't need to bother in the second half. They will have to be better than that if they are to achieve their aim of completing the treble this year!!

Well we had Brown at 9 and Charles in the halves last week.

I wouldn't say that was the change in performance. I just thought we defended better and went forward with more purpous in the second half

Last week only until Smith brought Houghton on then we really went backwards
Watch the game

No coincidence when Houghton went off injured today we had a better second half as you say
